'Paris Metro Station', gouache on paper (1974), by Roland Hamon. This artwork depicts a delightful summer day in an upscale neighbourhood of Paris in the 17th Arrondissement, Champerret. Near the Metro station is a news kiosk which also sells sundries and souvenirs. In the background is a quintessential Parisian residential building with French doors and just enough room on the balconies for a plant or two. It's a charming snippet of everyday life in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The detail, colour and perspective make this painting very charming and desirable for those lovers of the city. Why not wake up every day to this wonderful view? In very good vintage condition commensurate with age. Newly framed and glazed. Upon request, a video clip may be provided to add context.
About the Artist: Roland Hamon (1909 - 1987), was a French painter of landscapes and animated urban scenes. He was a student at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris and exhibited at the Salon des Artists where he was a member since 1934. A prolific artist, we owe him a debt of thanks for having captured and preserved so many views of Paris from the 1930s to the 1970s, particularly in the area around Sacre Coeur, in Montmartre. His artworks are collected internationally and frequently appear for sale in the major auction houses.
