'Landscape: One in Nature', oil on board, by René Seyssaud (circa 1930s). Painterly with energetic colours, this work by Seyssaud is both visually and texturally stunning. The boldness of the hues combined with the artist's luxuriant strokes mesmerise the viewer. Seated scarcely visible amongst the trees is a mother and son having a break along their journey upon a vibrantly colourful patch. The pair are portrayed as simply another natural form in the rich, green and colourful environment. They are serenely interconnected with the trees on the bank, the plants sprouting from the earth and the azure sky.

Given its age, the painting is in good vintage condition. It sits in a characterful frame, itself a work of art. Please carefully view the accompanying photos to this listing to appreciate its condition and aesthetic qualities. The work is signed 'Seyssaud' in the lower right hand corner. Today this artist's works are trending upward in value making this acquisition both an artistic one and an investment in the future.

About the ArtistRené Seyssaud (1867 - 1952) was a Provençal painter who studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, his hometown, then in Avignon. Noted for his powerful temperament and his bold palette of bright colours, he preceded the Fauvists in his use of colour. With other artists, Seyssaud formed the group of 'Young Admirers of Impressionism'. Inspired by Provençal land and seascapes, Seyssaud created very striking works which are collected internationally. Invited to the exhibition of the Masters of independent Art in Paris, he was awarded the Grand Prize in 1951. He passed away in Saint-Chamas, France in 1952.
