Vintage Decorative Pitcher by Cloutier Brothers (circa 1970s)
SKU 0660
Decorative ceramic pitcher / vase by the Cloutier brothers (circa 1970s). An outer surface decorated in the Cloutier's trademark soft mauve with an elegant sheen makes this piece very special indeed. In the centre of the body under the pouring lip is a circle, like a window with a view of a whimsical apple floating over a tree. It is a beautiful decorative piece with subtle elegance by two brother artists who have left a legacy of artistic creation. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. Upon request, a brief video will be provided for context. Signed on the underside: 'Cloutier'.
About the Designers: Jean and Robert Cloutier are called the twin brothers of ceramics. After having apprenticed for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, the brothers created their own workshop located in Paris in 1955. They produced both functional and dreamlike decorative objects. After Paris and a brief interlude in the town of Yonne, France, the Cloutiers put down roots in the Languedoc region of southern France. Forever refining their ceramic processes, they are considered to have perfectly mastered their profession and are held in the highest esteem.
