Ask a Question

This elegant ceramic pitcher has Blin's trademark cloudy blue glaze featuring primeval images of birds and a bull - seemingly from an undiscovered cave - etched around the lower half of the vessel. The mouth also has a decorative surround motif. This pitcher with circular handle is highly collectible and in excellent vintage condition. Signed on base: 'J. Blin'.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995), was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze; he frequently used fanciful birds and animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works with decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career.
