Born in Tuscany to Neapolitan parents, he moved with his family back to Naples as an adolescent, where he studied at the \u003cem\u003eRegio Istituto d'Arte. \u003c\/em\u003eIn his twenties, he became one of the youngest and most energetic members of the \"\u003cem\u003eOstinati\u003c\/em\u003e\" group, who gathered at the Caffè Tripoli in \u003cem\u003ePiazza del Plebiscito\u003c\/em\u003e and pushed for a renewal of Neapolitan painting away from what they saw as a tired 19th-century tradition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eChiancone exhibited extensively and prominently throughout his career, including at the Venice \u003cem\u003eBiennale\u003c\/em\u003e on numerous occasions between 1934 and 1948, the Rome \u003cem\u003eQuadriennale\u003c\/em\u003e, and the Monza \u003cem\u003eBiennale\u003c\/em\u003e. In 1937, he achieved national recognition by winning the \u003cem\u003ePremio San Remo\u003c\/em\u003e for painting.
